adding an authorized user

Hello there,

My husband is a new resident to the US and we got approved for a visa journey from Capital One, which is an unsecured card.  The CL is only $300.  Because I do not have any visa cards I was thinking of adding me to his account as an authorized user.  is this a bad idea since the CL is so low or it doesnt matter?

Re: adding an authorized user

Well... It could be bad in that, with only $300 to split between two people, you're going to be slamming into that limit hard and quick. Multiple times. But of course that all depends on your spending habits.

Other than that, there's no reason why you shouldn't become an AU on the card.

I Have Way Too Many of These.

American Express - No CLI or Appreciation Gift in 7 Years

Citibank - Handing Out Credit Limits Like Candy

Chase - Surprisingly, Still Tolerating My Credit-Chasing Ways

Bank of America - My Newest Bae.

Everyone Else.

What is your current AAOA? Can you afford to take the ding that a new cc will do to your score ESP since the CL is only $300 and it's a new card?

Are you at least letting it report a balance before paying it off?

If you don't need to be an AU, then it may not be worth it since it might bring down your AAoA. What would be best, is if you add him to your accounts as an AU.
