I received pretty nasty letter in the mail from DCU today stating that they closed my visa platinum account due to the amount of inquiries on my credit report. That's all fine and dandy but they are also demanding i pay the entire bill of $291 immediately. I was under the impression that if a credit issuer closes an account, the consumer is still bound by the terms of the credit card contract. I can pay the card in full but i would much rather pay them $25 each month just to make them mad. Am i legally required to pay them jokers off in full immediately?
They can't demand immediate payment of outstanding balance.... Just pay the mininum or above and you are fine.
about 19 on Equifax. Im not really upset because i have plenty of credit. I'm just angry that their demanding (yes demanding) me to pay the entire bill in full.
Will i still get a statment from them with a minimum amount of $25 due? I've never had this happen before.
DCU is sounding a bit like Comenity in that regard. Sorry it happened. ![]()

I don't bank with DCU, so can't speak about statement, but would assume so... Just make sure you make the payment each month online or however you do it (mark it on your calendar or whatever you have to do to make it) until you have it paid off whether that be 1 month of 6 months.
So sorry this happened to you.
It is so funny to me that they would send you an AA letter over inquiries.
When they are so fast to pull one on you for just about anything.
