Guys i have no idea what to do with membership reward points. They do not transfer the points to united, should i just dump all of them in delta and then eventually app for the delta card?
suggestions?
If you don't have any immediate plans for travel, hold onto them, and check for their periodic bonuses. End of last year/beginning of this year they offer 40% bonus transfer to Avios.

Delta is garbage. Their miles are worth almost nothing, and they also charge a tax on points transferred to the skymiles program.
Where are you planning to travel? Domestic, international? Economy, business, first class?
Despite British Airways changes, Avios are still a great deal for short haul domestic economy flights, and they offer bonuses pretty frequently.
Virgin also just got rid of fuel surcharges to australia, and I think they were something like 50 or 60k points each way which could be a great redemption.

Yikes! How much tax do they charge? I just got the card for the 35K bonus pts and $50 statement credit.

There's no tax for miles earned with the delta card, but there is what they call an "Airline Excise Tax" charged on any points transferred from membership rewards to delta. 50,000 membership rewards points transferred to delta will cost you $30 or 6,000 membership rewards points. It's $0.60 for every 1000 points.
And 35k miles will get you from the airport closest to you, to the next closest airport to you xD

LOL! Not sure at this point but I will probably use them for upgrades or short distance trips. Of course, I will combine them with other earned points.

Well they dont transfer to United but you can still book United flights by tranferring them to Aeroplan. I just flew one way on United using 12500 MR points through Aeroplan. The same ticket was 647$ in cash.

If you want to fly on united in US there are an bunch of different options!!! Singapore and Aeroplan come to mind off the top of my head.
Just an small edit. If you want to find best value for domestic flights, i think transferring to BA would be better option since its distance based so you could fly somewhere less than the standard 25k RT it is for most partners. For me if i wanted to fly to Puerto Rico from JFK it would be only 20k thats far less than other carriers would charge most others i believe are in 35-45k range for RT from nyc to carribbean.
avios all the way
includes boston to dublin round trip for 2 for 50k, from there its $100 each round trip to london or paris.
aerofloat seems like the best course of action. United is my airline of choice. Can you transfer there miles to united 1.1, i generally fly domestic but occasionaly go to israel. Also i usually sit in economy class unless i feel splurging.
also can't i just get past the delta surge transfer charge by always transfering 995 miles, then doing the other 50 later on. United seems to be no better with miles, they both charge 25k miles to chicago one way.
