If you don't have proof of income, then you shouldn't apply for a credit card in the first place. Last thing you want from a credit card issuer is to accuse you of perjury, which is a federal felony.
SAY WHAT? You crazy! I don't do no stinkin proof of income and have plenty of cards and FICO scores. "Federal felony"?!? LOL, what a drama queen...
What would you do if one of the many CC you have FR'd you?
Read it before you tell people something is not a federal offense just because you do it.

ok dad lol. thread finished.. thanks to everyone that helped me
Members of the board are just trying to be helpful; we do want everyone to succeed in their credit goals. In actuality, any lender could ask for proof of income. Cap One did it when I asked for a CLI back in March and I had to fax in pay stubs. My CU used a record of my checking deposits to verify income. All of my other lenders have accepted my statement of income without further support, but that could change at any time.
BCE seems to be a good match for people that just want an AMEX revolver. That'd be my recommendation for you.
the point is its no ones business why i cant show proof of income right now. that doesnt mean i dont have income it just means i cant show proof yet. i shouldnt even have to talk about this because thats not what this thread is about. theres no fraud going on people just like making assumptions on stuff that isnt there business. it happens alot to me on internet forums and its annoying. its all good though
I think with any internet forum, people will assume anything mentioned is open for discussion. You had mentioned income proof as a factor in not going with a CU, so people responded. I would recommend just omitting information on any subjects you'd prefer not to be discussed (i.e., 'I'm not considering CUs currently" would have neatly avoided the topic). I'm sorry if the discussion annoyed you, but I don't think anyone intended their responses to be negative. Many of us have worked hard on our credit and just want others to succeed, too.
your missing the point once again. its not that i dont wanna talk about the subject thats not it. i just dont like people assumming im frauding a company when im not, got me? did i ever say i was lieing on an application? people should get the correct info before they start assuming things

exactly LOL!!! "your commiting fraud buddy".. calm down brotha, find out whats goin on first

Keep in mind that AmEx income verifications (not just FR's are subject to income verification) are done via the 4506-T. If you have no proof of income at all including tax transcripts then you're setting yourself up for trouble.
As other have said, it sounds like you're going about this backwards. APR's and limits are based on your credit. If you want the lowest APR's available then you should be looking at non-rewards cards. Seek out an AmEx when there's an AmEx that suits your needs/wants versus trying to make AmEx fit your low APR, balance carrying requirements.
@johnpalley wrote:i guess theres no other info to get from anyone.
You're asking others to do the work for you. We'd have to look over the options and compare APR's just as you would.
@johnpalley wrote:its like they make you take the rewards with a higher apr when i dont want that.
They're not makng you do anything. You're the one trying to make a square peg fit a round hole. It's not uncommon for rewards to come with higher APR's and even AF's. Thats precisely why there have been several recommending that you look at non-rewards cards with low APR's if a low APR is all you care about.
All we can do is offer input on the matters that you ask about. What you do is your call.

I don;t do FRs, I prevent them. As far as they can tell I am the perfect customer.
And for a "federal offense" to be enforceable, you'd need to violate something that doesn't have the ridiculous vague language that CC apps have on this matter. And I could expand on this, but I am hearing a helicopter and I need to check they haven't found me...

I don't think your lying about having income I am sure you do. I do have a question for you if you want a CCC from all the major CCC's and they FR you especially Amex you can't prove your income and close you accounts there would be a possibility that others will follow suit what then?
I really believe you have income I also believe it is not enough to support your lifestyle right now or you wouldn't be asking about a Amex to carry balances on before you even get approved when everyone is telling you that wouldn't be a good idea. Your right this thread did get a little off topic from your original questions but that happens all the time on here.
Good Luck on whatever cards you chose.

The Gaylord case got a lot of publicity, but that is really evidence of just how rare this is. At least part of his trouble was caused by filing for BK, burning the issuers he has been less than truthful to, which presumably led to a more in depth examination than a standard account review of an active customer.
And as for facing up to 90 years in these early articles, he finally got time served and 5 years probation. And is probably applying for a NASA card as we speak!

I agree it is extremely rare and this guy was probably made an example of. He did commit blatant fraud and as the article stated that it isn't usually enforced. It doesn't change fact that you are supposed to be honest on any loan.

You should expand on it. What is vague on the CC app. Your address? SS # ? Your income? Does sound very vague.
I would agree if someone is working off the books that they should write it as income on their app. Which you probably do? Whether you pay taxes on that money is not important factor.
