anyone apped for a CLI with AMEX after a few weeks of having the card?

Hi all,  I have had my amex blue since may 07 and didn't pull the trigger till this past march. I wanted ample CL for our upcoming vacation in april. went from 5800 to 7800 using the love button on the site. I want to get this higher but will wait till the end of this year to try again. Only thing that bothers me is that they ask you how much you want to increase it to and i am a bit nervous about reaching to high and getting a decline.

When I applied for the card, the customer rep said I have to wait 30 days after I get the card to request CLi. I did that and got a 7-10 day response in the mail saying I can't request for CLi within 60 days of new account and within 6 months of new CLi. I guess I will try again when the 60 day comes.

No, they don't.  I wasn't aware they ever did.  How long ago was that?

About two years ago I believe, Cheddar.

Now for another question, does Amex normally use their internal risk assessment with data from last account review to determine CLIs or does it simply pull a soft? Anyone know?

Thanks for that.  I never knew they used to do counteroffers.

For their CLIs they use both internal account review data AND they pull a soft.  I got a CLI that was instantly approved, but they didn't soft me until one or two days later, AFTER I was already approved.

I don't know if they would have taken the CLI back if they didn't like what they saw.

Very interesting Cheddar - I've heard of similar things happening for others. Hmmm...now I need to figure out how much to ask for. My current CL is 11K...I guess I'll ask to to have it go up to 15K which would match my other two cards...I'm also contemplating taking a risk and going for 16K...hmmm.

Good luck!  I don't think the difference between $15K and $16K would be a deal breaker.  JMO.

my experiance is if they are going to give you a cli they are going to give you the stars.  I took my business card from 3k - 12k in one cli.

Wow i hope to get mine to at least 10-15 k by the end of this year.
