Re: anyone apped for a CLI with AMEX after a few weeks of having the card?

I was approved for the AMEX Delta in September of 2007 with a $1K CL.  I backdoored to get the AMEX Blue conversion.  However, I still have not received a CLI, and I have requested one twice, been denied both times.  I think my first CLI request was to go from $1K to $5K, conservative request I thought.

Anyway, my FICO's have continued to go up and balances down but with no luck.    I even charge up to $900 and PIF, or leave a small balance to post and then I PIF far in advance of the due date.

Maybe I'll wait to my one year to try again.

Sorry to hear that.  $1K to $5K is not really that conservative.  You're asking them to quintuple your existing limit.  Amex is known for approving these kinds of requests if you have low util and high scores, but otherwise it can be asking for trouble.

I'm a firm believer that those who backdoor into the Blue or Blue Cash need to FUTR for a while.

Took me 6 months before I got a CLI-
With my score 100 points higher than when I opened.

I was running 3 to 4X my CL though it - this did not seem to help a bit.

If I coulkd afford to run $30,000 a month through mine I don't think I would be concerned about my CL  Smiley Very Happy

And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid
