apped for the wrong amex

Last night I submitted my monthly app for the bCp but i accidently apped for the bSp . I dont want the bSp, i dont travel a lot and I want cash back. Fortunately, I got the 7-10 notice. what should I do, hope I dont get approved or call and explain the situation?

Just give them a call and explain your mistake. I am sure they can switch the application for you.

You'll have to reapply for that specific card, but I don't believe it will be a new hard pull as they use the same report from the last x amount of days.

Also, why are you apping monthly?  I believe they tell you to wait at least 6 months for a new app, otherwise it's almost a guaranteed decline.

I already have a green card. just a soft pull.

I just called and explained the situation to the rep. he told me, he couldn't change the app and I was so stupid for apping for a card I didn't want that he was going to have to cancel my green card.


Just kidding. He couldn't make the change to bCp but he did tell me that I was approved for the bSp with a 3000 limit. Hopefully 9000 in 61 days. I'm so happy right now. can't wait to get it. my score was in the low 500's 4 years ago and around 650 when I found these boards. I've raised my score to 700ish since being here. Thank you.

Congratulations, did he give any way that you can later convert?  (Because this card doesn't have the benefits you want).

Also, you said you apply monthly.  Did your score change between last time and this?  If not, that MIGHT be a data point that BSP is easier to get than BCP..

Congrats on the approval.  You can PC it but you'll have to wait 13 months due to the CARD Act.

I don't think it has. one of the reasons they gave me last month was length of time with amex. I should be at 6 months now. I opened the green in Oct of 2012. My score last month was 695 ex, maybe they'll send me a new score if I didn't get the best rate.

I'm going to try a PC after I've had the card for a few months.

I did the same thing, but applied for the Blue and wanted the BCE card. Called, one rep said no, called again and the lady said no problem and even gave me the intro rates. You could probably try calling again?
