applying for a second amex, HP SP question

i already have one amex, if i apped for another would it be a hard pull or a soft pull, i've heard different answers in this forum.

I think it is typically only a soft pull if you apply and are declined, but it will definitely be a hard pull if you are approved.

awesome so if im denied it will only be a soft pull? whew im glad i got denied lol. said my zync was too new.
