They probably wont, thats why its called signup bonus, i'd be mad suprised if they did. look at it this way, there is all the time offers going on, you might signup for chase freedom and tomorrow they offer double the rewards, will they double your signup bonus since that happend? probably not.
i mean for all it's worth there is an offer for 50k points right now on the prg, and some people get letters that they only need to spend 1k for those rewards.
that sucks believe me it does, you cal call and try to get an higher up and from my experience with amex, you are talking about alot of points, it's gonna be near impossible for them to give you that, but your best bet is threathen to cancel the card, it's alot more expensive to get a new customer then to keep an existing one, and dont' forget to remind them that if they deny you, but for that you will need to speak to someone who actually cares and has the authority to give you 100+ dollars in rewards.
They cannot upgrade you to the PRG as you have to wait a year for product changes to a higher AF card. You would need to apply for the PRG if you wanted that right away. If you apply right away and you are interested in the PRG bonus, I would call the number on the offer and see if you would still qualify if you app'd for the card. I don't see them giving you the offer though without applying for the PRG.

Well, actually a bad example! Many posts here about Chase giving people the extra $100 if they had applied soon before the sign up bonus doubled to $200 (I got this too). But Chase is very good at this, Amex less so.
