I'll start by apologizing to Ron. However, you sir are being condescending with your comment. YOU have no idea the amount of research i've done and advice i've USED from this site and others. It appears that memebers don't, as often, reply to posts that have probably been asked many times before. i'm grateful for the ones that do though. sorry, i'm too busy working 3 jobs and 70 hrs a week to read the previous 53,000 posts. I check back here when i can to read and use the valuable advice of those interested in helping. while i greatly value any helpful input of any of the members and yourself, and also any expertise and insight you may have, i am not inferior to you or any other member of this forum.

thanks for the input sir. that's good to know about the quick CLIs. after some reading tonight, it looks like the two 'best' cash bach cards, the one you mentioned and discoverit offer 5 and 6% cash back bonuses but are VERY limited in what stores are included. If i've read right, it looks like neither amex or discover classify walmart as a 'grocery store', rather a 'big box' store. that's a major detractor for me. i live a block from a walmart and obviously frequent there many times a week for pretty much everything: gas, grocers, everything!

No one is saying or even hinting that you are inferior.
Anyhow, to answer your question (again):
national banks are going to give you something (if any) that is in line with the limits you currently have. With a BK reporting, it's just not in your favor. There's no one bank or one card that is more generous over the other. The CL you get is going to be determined by your income and CR.
Credit unions on the other hand can be more personable, and sometimes you can try to negotiate your way through things with them.
Let's remember to be respectful in your comments, as to not violate myfico's TOS and User Guidelines.

Well, for cash back at Walmart you want the Huntington Voice. Unfortunately, it was only available in areas that have a Huntington bank nearby. Supposedly that is changing or has changed very recently, but I haven't heard of a successful non-local application yet.
The Voice card allows you to choose one category for 3% cash back, and Walmart is a category.

@jwright343 wrote:thanks for the clarification. trust me, i do tons of research, why i'm here. guess i'm just interested in a more reputable world wide card. i'm not looking for a 5 figure limit but something with at least a thousand or two originally. i live in the midwest so i'm not aware of a 'duck' or 'beaver' cards.
Well, starting off saying that you are not going to read through the posts, then insulting a major forum member for a great suggestion, doesn't give the impression of "tons of research" You could even apologize to Ron....
+1.....
Ron gave you very good advice there.
National banks are never going to as generous as credit unions are, at least for initial CLs. If "higher" limits are what you seek, go with CUs.
If you are going to want a "reputable" national bank card, you're going to get whatever you deserve based on your credit history and income. With a BK on your CR, chances are most banks will either pass on you or issue you "starter" CLs.

Exactly.

That's ok. Don't worry about it.
Ron.
Research credit union cards as there are already some threads about the best ones (different credit unions have different criteria). A credit union will be more likely to give you a much higher credit line as well. To get high limits you have to put in the time and build up your credit profile. Amex can give higher credit lines but it can take awhile to get there with them and they might start you off a bit low if they don't know you.
