cap one question

Quick Question about the limits. Are they pre set and unbudgable? What i mean to ask is once you have a 3k card can you get a cli over that?   And if not which card offers a higher limit like 10k? Also if you get one with the 3k limit and another with a 3k limit can you combine them?

Dont have one but if and thats a big IF(they sound scary to deal with) I do get one in the future i wanted to get the higher limit card. which one would that be?

Thanks

Re: cap one question

Combining is one way-

Call the back door "Account Specialist" number and find out if you are at the max for this tier-

Combining was the only way for me to bust out of my tier-

Re: cap one question

I don't know about other people's experiences.  But I have had a Capital One card with a $500 limit since May of 1999.  I think maybe in the first year I had it I may have gone over my CL once twice, but I never missed a payment.  It is my oldest card and while I have asked for CLI's in the past I have always, always been denied.

Now perhpas it has to do with the fact that I have had several cards maxed out or nearly maxed out when I requested them.  But I would think almost 9 years later I would get a CLI at least once.

The only reason the card is still open is because it is my oldest card and I don't want to know what it would do to the average age of my credit history if I closed it.

I hope you have better luck.

Re: cap one question

Get the UTL down- then call the backdoor number-

Mine was at $500 for 6+ years now at $5K

Re: cap one question

For those of us who aren't in the know, what is the Cap One backdoor number?  Oh, and are they hard pulls when you request CLI's?  I can't seem to find a luv button on the website.  Is there one?

Re: cap one question

Definitely could be uti.  cap One seems to say no for ANY reason.  I have had a cap 1 f0r a year now and got several increase until I did a 1.99% for life BT and the card now sits at a little over 50% uti.  Now the answer is always no. I'm not mad since I won't be using the card til paid off anyway.

Re: cap one question

To my knowledge there is no luv button on their site. If you call the standard number there is a option on the automated system to request an increase, although I have never heard of this resulting in a successful CLI. (I've been denied twice)

The backdoor number I know is : 1-800-889-9939
