chase and cli should i? also, amex palt not plat enough.

ok, fighting the urge to app for new cc (really want the amex plat, hate you concord!).

first the chase issue. they are by a factor of 7 my lowest non-store tl at 500, but i've had them just over a year (few months ago hard cli reconed to 500, upgraded to bp visa, then product chaged to starbucks duetto). i would really like to get these guys in line w/other limits and pretty sure they will pull my eq (4 inqs and 665). input experince suggestions on amount i should rqst please.

send i have a an amex delta plat and we are going to london friday night and i called to see if they would help w/lodging accomidations. rep says try this number. i call and the rep says sorry this center handles the other plat holders call the number on the back of your card. oh well, i thought i was plat class for a while.

Well, I can see the moral victory in forcing them to acknowledge that you are now a good customer, but honestly, I don't think that they are worth fooling with. Chase has such a stink-o rep.

Turn your approach on its head--why don't you consider kicking them to the curb? They should be fighting for your business. If not, then to hell with them.

edit: BTW, I hope that you and Mrs. ducky have a great time in London! My favorite city in the entire world. Say hello to Hampstead Heath.

well i've used that evaluation method many times in the last 6 months and chase is one of the survivors. honestly if they weren't one of the top 5 issuers in america i would have shut them down.

when i got my cli a few months back my highest tl was 5k, now i have 3 over 10k and a much cleaner eq (4 paid collections and 30 x 3 and 60 x 2 gone). the score is a good 15-20 points higher as well.

See, that's the point. The other companies have figured out that you are worth doing business with. So what's the problem with Chase?

Big whoop, they have a reputation, which they're coasting on. Top 5, so what? They're still pretty sucky.

Your profile IS a lot better, so hey, go ahead and ask. They ought to give it to you, because you would be a fantastic customer. Just remember, if they turn you down, it's because they're fools. (Remember dating in middle and high school!)

i fully see your point and i like having chase in my profile, but think they may be doing more harm than good at this point. i have no experince, but if i'm an underwriter looking over an app and see a 1 year old chase w/500 and see several accounts less than 6 months old starting at 4k and going to 12k i'm wondering what does chase know that ducky got them to not report.

Again, turn it on its head: you need to get this underwriter to think, what the hell is wrong with Chase?

I'd guess that they see all sorts of weird quirks and anomalies on reports. Look at it this way: if you have Chase going thumbs down and multiple accounts going thumbs up, AND you are marvelously current with all your accounts, which way do you think that they will tilt?

(Sorry to keep going with the devil's advocate thing --it's just so odd to see you being wary with a creditor. And I'll bet that a lot of underwriters know how weird and stupid Chase is.)
