I think this is a clear case of higher limits begetting higher limits.
I got a freedom in November 2011 with a 3k limit.
Looking at the cards and limits I had at application time and averaging them makes some sense of my new chase CL...
BARNEYS OF NEW YORK | $1,000 |
CITI | $4,000 |
AMAZON | $2,000 |
CARE CREDIT | $1,800 |
LOWES | $1,500 |
WALMART | $1,100 |
JARED | $5,100 |
TARGET | $200 |
USAA | $6,000 |
Average CL | $2,522 |
You're results seem similar and not out of line... I wish I didn't have some of those lower limit cards..The redcard specifically.
Although, when I do the math with my current usaa limit and omit the target card my average is only ~$3500 so who knows... I've also had a high balance of $10,600 on my amex but I don't think that played into it at all.
* UPDATE: Chase approved my request and doubled my credit limit!!! Thanks for the input everyone. Also my score for equifax went down 10 points for the inquiry for anyone curious.

CONGRATS ON THE CARD AND CLI!!
Having some experience with Chase, they can be conservative (and flakey when it came to the crunch of a couple years ago). To get that CLI with the 2 cards I saw you had listed was a real accomplishment!
Thank you, ALOT of hard work it has taken.
