So I went ahead ans asked for a cli from $4000 to $10000 and got it. I asked if it can be converted to a signature visa, the rep told me it can but it would have to be only freedom unlimited signature.. The other was not available on my account. Said I'll call back after I think about it. What gives?
Same thing happened to me. I had a regular Freedom Card at 4k, called and asked for a CLI. They bumped it to 6k. Then I called back and asked if I could get it upgraded to a Siggy and they said only if I PC to FU. So I did.
You have to wait a year before you can go to Signature after a cli over 5K.
the rep told me my new card would be mailed right away. Guess they are trying to do away with the freedom

I hope that was the right decision! For the vast majority of people, Sig gives no actual real advantages over Plat (e.g.while some sigs still have Flexible limits, many people will never use that feauture out of need). Whereas whether Freedom or FU is a better match is fairly easily determined by your spending, redemption, and alternate cards
Interesting. I have a 16 mos old Freedom that I PC'ed to an Unlimited back in March. It had an initial SL of 4.5k and got a 1k increase back in Sept 2015. They sent me a letter afterwards telling me it had been switched to a Signature. When I switched to Unlimted they sent me a Signature. Well I decided I wanted my Freedom back a couple of weeks ago and they switched it back and I just received my card and its a Signature. Not that it really matters to me but nice nonetheless.
As far as everyone saying the Freedom is going away, I'm not sure. Why can't they have both? They only had 3 cards they offered, why not 4? Seems to me they could exist together.

Chase has issued a memo saying the Freedom isn't going away (so, at least for now). Why do you say 3 cards? The offer a lot more if you include the co-branded ones
Try sending a SM asking for an upgrade and see what that gets you. I upgraded mine to Visa Signature Q1 of this year that way no problem. Although, the FU wasn't relased yet when I got mine so maybe this is a procedural change to try and coax everyone over to the new product.

I know about the co branded cards. I was speaking on their captive cards ( Freedom, Unlimited, Slate, CSP). Many of their competitors offer several branded cards in additon to co branded. So I don't see why Chase couldn't offer more than the original 3 is my point. Give the consumer more choices not fewer.
