citibank cli questions

I'm NOT applying for a cli already but Its one of the many many options available to me with my citi professional card. after the usual employer/earnings category there is a second category where they want primary bank savings/checking account number and phone number of bank. All that to make a request for a CLI? I've never had anyone else ask me for this information. what are they checking for?

Re: citibank cli questions

Yeah, I got the same thing when I requested a CLI on DFiancee's Citi/Sears MC.  I also wondered why they needed all that just for a CLI.  But then she got the CLI and I forgot all about it.

Re: citibank cli questions

I believe it is in case of late payments/no payments.  They ask me it when I call in for CLI, of cause they ask your annual income.

Well, even with late payments or no payments they can't just take your money.  There's a process for all that, and they'd need a judgment first.

Unless they're just collecting that info in order to pass it on to a CA just in case your account eventually ends up going to one.  I can't imagine they'd do that though.

Hi cheddar,

How about this ....  Do they will trust you more if you have money in the bank accounts and give you the increase what you want?

Now that's an interesting question.  I wonder if they're actually using your banking info to check your current bank account balance in order to decide whether to grant CLI.

Re: citibank cli questions

I wondered not if they could check your balance but inquire about types/amounts of deposits you were making.

If that's what they're doing, that's messed up.

I can't get behind that at all.

Re: citibank cli questions

It is pretty common for citi to do this for biz accounts. I have 14 accounts for biz and cards issued by citi, macy's, sears, bloomingdale they require me to provide the biz bank account / bank phone number. I am not sure about personal accounts as I dont have a personal account with citi.
