couple of citi question? possible cli and should i combine?

i've had my citi dpr for about 8 months now and they have brought me from 3.1 to 10k (via hard pulls).
i recently appd and rcvd a cash returns approval for 4.8k. will citi cli at activation since i've had my dpr over 8 months and my home depot over a year or do i need 6 months of cooling off on this card before a cli rqst?

also, the rate on the dpr is 13.99% vs. the 8.25% on the cash returns. i'm thinking about combining and closing the dpr, thoughts (tired of arguing with myslef on this one)?
thanks.

It all depends on what you are expecting as the out come. If you want, I am sure they will combine the limits.

Can you think of any reasons why you shouldn't combine the DPR and Cash Returns cards?

Re: couple of citi question? possible cli and should i combine?

Since both CC have different APR, I say call Citi and ask General Question on converting the account.   When I converted Citi Dividend Platinum to Citi Driver's Edge right after I activated, the APR will go by new CC.   Right now, it is 0% APR for 12 months.

What is your reason that you want to convert your DPR to Cash Returns?  Just APR?  APR should not matter as long as you don't carry the balance.  Are you planning to carry the balance on DPR or actually carrying right now?

Re: couple of citi question? possible cli and should i combine?

For me when I combined HHonors into Dividend. My interest rate became 9.9%. But original HH card was 2.9 for six months. When I called and asked Citi, CSR said to call back after 2 months and they will reduce the APR. They said since all cards are new put some usage on the card and call them back in 2 months. I am planning on putting all the charges on just dividend cards for next 2-3 months and show PIF and ask for low APR. I seem to like Citi and their handling of customers. I am so glad, I am able to get good cards with Citi. I am not looking for any more cards at any other place. Probably next card would be for my business with Citi. That is it.

bunny, not thinking of converting. citi allows customers to combine multiple cards into a single product.

so concord, what your saying is if i combine i could lose the 8.25 on my cash returns?

Ducky I asked a similar question to a very nice CSR last week. And keep in mind I've only had my 2 Citi cards for 3 weeks now.

I was told sure, they can combine, but I'd lose the reward points on the card I'm merging into the other one(if that makes sense). You'd probably keep the 8.25% on the C.R. card after combining.

Why don't you call them? They are very easy to deal with. I get the impression that they want to do what ever you want them to do(within reason). Their attitude is: 'sup to you! Smiley Happy

Ducky, Let me know how it goes, if you do that. I have two cards with them right now and am considering combining. Thanks!
