Re: couple of citi question? possible cli and should i combine?

On your CLI question: I think I remember your saying that you had a goal of getting a total credit limit of $250,000. Since most people aren't shooting for anywhere near that, continual requests for CLI's can really alarm lenders. And I think that you said that was one of the reasons that AmEx gave. Citi is a great company to get in with, and I'd hate to see you scare them off.

There's a lot to be said for kicking back and letting all your lenders get comfortable with you, and allowing auto-CLI's to get started. I read over and over that the members here with high CL's ($30's and above) never requested CLI's; they just allowed time to do its thing. If it were me, I'd hold off on asking for a CLI until things cool off a bit, especially after AmEx's AA. But then, I'm chicken! Smiley Very Happy Good luck, whichever way you go.

Re: couple of citi question? possible cli and should i combine? Results are in.

well i was able to log in to the account today. i was very surprised to see the card show up. sorry htsu i just couldn't help myself.

i get the card, use the number on the back (not the number to activate on the sticker). csr says what can i help you with? i say i would like to have the limit bumped from the 4.8k to 10k to match my dpr.

she takes some info (all the usual questions). says sir you have been instantly approved to go to 5.5k, a credit manager will review your request and make a decision in the next 30 minutes.

I call as soon as i hang up and the automated info says 5.5k, as promissed. well 3 speed dial calls and 15 minutes later, recording says credit line10k!!!!!!

OK, ducky, I owe you some thanks, so I'll let you get away with your new card for now! Smiley Wink

One of the big score killers I had on EX was the 0% BT on the new BofA, with an initial balance of $8400 (including BT fee) on a $10K limit. I've already paid it down to $6900, but I was so inspired by your hustling of the citi rep that I called BofA just now and got a CLI to $15K! Suddenly, I'm under 50% on this card, with everything else at its usual $0 balance, so now I'm under 9% overall util. Whew!

Thanks for quacking loudly enough to give me some courage. I'm now going to sit here and quake for a while. (I am a terrible weenie! Smiley Very Happy )

thanks!

Got the card on 2/16; paid it down as soon as I could get online from $8240 to $7500; first statement posted 3/5 with $7500; just paid again yesterday down to $6900 (will post tonight at midnight.) I told them them I was getting killed on my EX score from the util, and that also I wanted to do one more BT in a few months, and needed some more wiggle room. (So I guess I'll do one more small BT!)

I'm still stunned --I'm such a major chicken, I can't believe I did that, but after 40-gazillion of your posts where you got CLI's every couple of hours or so, I just had to do something! I'm now purring contentedly away.

BTW, I didn't even know that BofA had a luv button! I just called. And I just now pulled TC, and there's no inq, and they have shown up in the past in about 7 seconds, so I think it was a soft. Certainly, they never said, "Do I have your permission to pull your report," or anything similar. The first guy couldn't make it go, so he sent me to a credit specialist. Guy #2 asked whether I wanted a particular figure, or just whatever was available, and I said the second, and ka-ching, there's another $5K. This will really help my scores, and I must say, BofA just took a major step forward in becoming my major bank of choice when I start culling! And this is an affinity card, too, not a straight BofA, so I'm even more surprised.

He did ask my income, now that I think of it, and I gave him the figure for both my jobs, and he was crunching away, and I tossed in my estimate for HHI. But I think he used my personal ($65K). Sorry, I'm dithering... Smiley Tongue

edit: corrected wrong initial balance

every couple of hours, i wish. not dithering at all. like i said think i'm going to wait until the 3 rd statement cuts.

i think i am going to reallocate 9k from my dpr to the cash returns. last time boa matched my highest limit, maybe they'll do it again.

funny thing, amex chops 3.5k off my limit and citi throws me 10k. go figure?
