credit card question

I feel like I have finally reached a level that I could close out my terrible cards. I hope everyone here can help me decide if now is the right time.

Current wallet -

Cap1 secured 500 limit 6/2014
Cap1 quicksilver 2000 limit 11/2014
Credit one 400 limit 6/2014
credit union 5000 limit 5/2015
credit union secured 250 limit 6/2015
Amazon 600 limit 11/2014

Student loan 2008
auto loan 11/2014

I only have a balance on the credit union card currently. All of my other cards have high apr and annual fee. I was thinking I should only keep Cap1 quicksilver and the credit union and amazon card and close the rest. Do you agree that this is the best plan?
Everything is in good standing and I don't think I will be aping for more credit anytime this year.

Re: credit card question

Thank you for your response! I wanted to make sure that closing out so many cards wasn't going to create a huge issue haha

Re: credit card question

i completely agree. they're all so new so it won't hurt hardly at all. they just make your profile look bad lol jk but yeah ditch the credit one at the MINIMUM and the two secured cards and get your $750 back and pay off your credit union one Smiley Happy

Re: credit card question

+1 to the closure suggestions.

In regards to Credit One, since you're at or near 1 year anniversary, they may start charging the annual fee in monthly installments. Call to close that card asap! And be on the lookout for trailing billing statement(s). Even a closed card can still rack up interest, fees, penalties, etc until the statement balance is zero.

Thanks everyone! I will call them all asap to close. Thanks for the tip to watch out even after closing! Would be horrible to get a late just because I thought I was all clear

Re: credit card question

Glad you got the answers you need.

So, now a nag!   Please try to use a more descriptive subject in future.   "credit card question"?   Well, this is a credit card forum so that's sort of expected!
