Re: credit cards inquiries

What kind of inquiries are they (CC, Auto, mortgage)? Also, are the 24 inquiries split between EQ and EX or is that 24 a piece?

No list exist imo, most lenders can use inquiries as an excuse to deny credit, even if its not their reason. Often times ime, they do state this as reason for denial.

Everything depends on strenght of your profile. I think having a strong income can help alot but also other factors will come into play dependant of creditor.

I miss more than i connect but i did get approved with Penfed with more than 20 inqs on my Eq. ( though to be noted i have established history with them, 5 years or so)

Well I have the following inquries over the last 2 years

37/TU

42/EX

39/EQ

I have been applying for 3 to 5 new accounts per month over the last year. I also have inqurires for car loans and what not.

I was approved for about 95% of my requests. But I have done my homework and I do not apply to banks that are going to say no for either too many new accounts or inquries.

Before I go listing a bunch of banks that have said yes to me I would like to know the following about your DP's

Your total CC credit lines.

Your total utilization.

Your utilization of any card over 28%

Your oldest credit line.

Your income.

Your FICO score (not any other score as only FICO is real one)

Anything bad including any late payments over the last 7 years.

There are quite a few banks that will overlook your inquries based on the rest of your profile.

I will agree with an above poster that PenFed may be an excellent choice for you as many others as well. But again, it depends on other factors too.

Thanks

Mark

Re: credit cards inquiries

@FicoC  14% utilization without negatives wouldn't result in your score being in very low 700s.

How about individual utilization?

Is the whole purpose of this application to reduce utilization?

To answer your question, all lenders care about inquiries unless they don't.

For strong profiles, it's less of an issue.

For someone who's already struggling with approvals, inquiries tend to be straw that breaks camel's back.

Looking for TU puller may or may not work. As an example, US Bank always pulls TU for me without exception, but they also always did SP on EX.

Most lenders these days will do SP either during application or shortly after, hiding bodies isn't all that easy.

In the end, your success with application will really hinge on the reason why your score is suppressed and without knowing that, it's really hard to make suggestions.

Re: credit cards inquiries

could my verizon charge off that is paid and no delinquent markings be hurting my score because it is still technically a "charge off/negative" account

Charge off is one of the worst negatives you could have, so yes.

Once you pay charge off, the benefit realized from cessation of reporting and it's no longer affecting your utilization, but it's completely negative account.

Is it older charge off?

Anyway, if you are looking for a card to decrease utilization, it's not worth it. 14% going below 9% will not be life changing event.

If you are looking for a card for normal spend or SUB, you probably want to expand on what you're looking to do with a card suck as groceries, utilities, travel etc
