Re: declined AMEX

Sorry for the denial. What were the reasons? And yes, 54 inq's would be my guess too.

Re: declined AMEX

If 45+ were from auto loans, Amex's system is typically smart enough to treat auto loan inquiries like FICO does which is all inquiries within certain period are treated as same inquiry score wise.  You might have a case if you apped for car loan on 10 different occasion while taking 4-5 inquiries each time for example.  Yes it would be like 10 inquiries, but that isn't dangerous for Amex as they are car loans.

What was your AMEX reported credit score?  In any case, recon can't hurt, but be prepared to take another inquiry (probably won't happen though).  Call AMEX executive office.  I think number is on sticky in this forum.

Re: declined AMEX

That's assuming the auto shopping was properly coded as such.

Re: declined AMEX

Well, do you know your FICO credit score?  Can you tell us more about your credit file?  AAoA, number of accounts, any negatives, cards and credit lines, etc.

Re: declined AMEX

I would call just to let them know your situation, sounds like an auto decline based on your INQ.  Call them, you have nothing to lose!

Re: declined AMEX

Even if 80% of the inqs were from a car loan, that'd still leave you with 11 inqs (which is still quite high). Honestly I wouldn't even bother calling. Just garden until some of those fall off.
