Re: Closing Credit Card--crazy fees!

The your total available credit would be reduced less then 5% which I dont think would have too much of an efefct on your FICO.  If the account is your oldest, it could inpact your score if the card say was 5 years old and all your other accounts are new.

If not, I would close that POS.

Re: Closing Credit Card--crazy fees!

You should also show some activity on your other accounts.  PIF each month of course

Re: Closing Credit Card--crazy fees!

Close it.  It will stay on your report for 10 years and contribute to average age that way
The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Won'[t hurt your score at all.  It will not immediately drop off.  I would definitely have a nicve burial service for that one.

Re: Closing Credit Card--crazy fees!

atb, close the card, but make darn sure there is $0.00 balance on the cc when you close it.

I too had a card with such ridiculous fees, and closed it 2 months ago. It was hard for me to, as it was my first cc, and was contributing to the ave. age of the cc's.

But glad I did. And you will be too! Smiley Happy

Re: Closing Credit Card--crazy fees!

That sounds like a Credit One Bank account. Great rebuilder card, but not meant for long-term use! I closed mine a couple of years ago, as it was just too expensive, and I no longer needed it.

See if your other CCC's will give you CLIs to make up for the $250 loss in credit, but only if they don't do a hard pull on you.

Good luck!!!

Re: Closing Credit Card--crazy fees!

Close city,  anyone charging you that many fee's with that low of a credit limit w/o any rewards deserves to go into the trash.

Close it up and save the money.
