dumping Cap1

Anybody with cards that morphed from HSBC/Orchard bank into Cap 1 cards ever close those cards and get a better card from Cap1.  Call it paranoia but I am convinced that those of us who hold cards that transitioned from another bank are treated differently than the folks who get cards directly from Cap 1.

Re: dumping Cap1

Call up the Cap1 EO and see what you can get done.

I'm dumping my Orchard Bank / Cap One Platinum / Quicksilver One in a few days. Just waiting for a charge to post and eat up a negative balance. I'm tired of trying to get a CLI or PC to a better card.

I dont have any of the old morphed cards like youre talking about, but Ive been kinda making a mental note of these threads, and it does seem that a lot of you that have old said cards are treated a little  differently. If it were me, Id close it out, and reapply for the Venture or QS siggy and see what happened. I would almost bet youd be approved with a high limit, just my take is all.

I had a pfffttt $600 limit GM WEMC that after i closed it and apped for Prime Capital One cards the start limits were infinitely better. Venture was the turnaround card for me followed by QS Visa.

Yes, it's true, those who had Orchard bank cards are treated like second class citizens. Think of it as you guys are like red headed step children to capital one.

Re: dumping Cap1

I closed my cards with them a year ago and finally went back and got approved for Venture. If you've rebuilt and have old secured cards or toy limit cards, my experience was that it was easier to leave home and be the prodigal son that returns.

Re: dumping Cap1

And the EO was not much help to me to be totally honest. Just worked out better in my experience. YMMV though.
