Maybe.............for a 20K Venture .or a 10K QS..........Smiley Very Happy........I just closed out 2 accounts with zero balances.......have 7.47 showing on one account that I made payment for but they wouldn't let me close it.   I guess the payment has to post.......be interesting to see if I get any pre-approvals from them now.

Re: dumping Cap1

I think it's silly they won't lower our AF from $59 to whatever their current version's is.  They did give me a $39 credit on this year's fee, but they won't lower it going forward.  My CL with Orchard started at $300 and with Cap1 it is now $3,300, so they have treated me well in that aspect.  I'll probably keep it open another year and cancel before the next fee hits, and since I now have the Quicksilver, I think that's all I need going forward with C1.

Re: dumping Cap1

I have an open Orchard to Cap-1 card and it doesnt stop me from getting good CL cards from Cap-1. I know the QS1 will never be a huge limit like you can get on other cards but its only 9.9% APR so I keep it around still even though its my lowest limit bankcard.

I'm at th other end of the spectrum......had a transitioned card with a 28.9 % apr.......is that 9.9% from Cap 1?

It was the rate I was offered when I opened the Orchard Bank card and its been kept the same at Cap-1. I dont get that rate on new Cap-1 cards I open they like to hit me with 19.9%, they never see a balance carried over on those cards.

Anybody with cards that morphed from HSBC/Orchard bank into Cap 1 cards ever close those cards and get a better card from Cap1.  Call it paranoia but I am convinced that those of us who hold cards that transitioned from another bank are treated differently than the folks who get cards directly from Cap 1.

I agree - It took me a couple of attempts, but a call to EO did finally get my AF removed for good... My CL is still low, but it has come up believe it or not, and I suspect it will go up again at some point.   This past week my card was upgraded from the MC Plat card to the QS1, and then 2 days later I called EO to get the AF removed.

The AF that many of us Orchard Bank users have/had is higher than what any original Cap1 customer has I think, and it does seem that the normal CS reps can't do anything about it.   it also does not seem that they have us in the same "credit building" programs as others which allow for graduation to better terms.

So, yes, but talk to EO and get them to improve the situation, and try a couple of times if you want to keep this credit line open.

Good for you.  When you outgrow a card, best to move on,  one can always seek the more prime offerings from cap one, unless satisfied with your other prime cards.

I'm the anomaly. My card that Cap 1 inherited has been upgraded twice since the purchase. My original Cap 1 credit card remained a Platinum Visa until the day I closed it. Good luck!!!

I'm dumping my Orchard Bank / Cap One Platinum / Quicksilver One in a few days. Just waiting for a charge to post and eat up a negative balance. I'm tired of trying to get a CLI or PC to a better card.

I did the same thing a few days ago.
