help deciding chase card

So I've got a CSP, Freedom and Slate. I want a CLI but I don't want to go about doing it that way and want to apply for another card instead. I'm interested in either the marriott or IHG card.  I don't really care about any of the benefits except for the free hotel stays.

My questions are :

which card would in your opinion be better at just getting 1 free hotel stay annually? Maybe get a group of friends and have a little party at a hotel for a night haha (Dallas, Texas area)

I'd probably take the credit limit if I got approved for either one of the cards and move it to my CSP. I'll leave about $500 CL on the new card.

From what you know and have read, which card usually offers a higher starting limit? I know it depends on your credit profile and everything but im asking just a general SL on them, which would usually be higher.

Do some research. Looks like both cards give you an annual free night when it renews. With marriot it limits the category. With IHG I have no idea if there is a category limit or not. Check into it and look at hotels in your area where you might want to use it and figure it out. I believe the AF is lower on the IHG but if the properties are not all that then maybe its worth paying more for the marriott. You have to research the properties yourself. In terms of credit lines not sure. People get large lines with Hyatt and Marriott. Don't know if this is the case with IHG since you dont hear that card mentioned that much, but with your goals it might be the better card who knows.

Re: help deciding chase card

I was in search for a hotel card and decided on the Chase Hyatt. From my research, it seemed the lowest starting limit on most of their cobranded cards are $5k. Also, Chase really frowns upon bonus chasing (churning cards). If you get approved for $5k on the Hyatt or IHG and immediately move $4.5k to your CSP, they probably know what your doing. From read on other forums that talk specifically to this kind of activity, chase has been known to shut down accounts who engage in this activity. But, from what I know, chase really doesn't care if you reallocate on their own cards, CSP, Slate, Freedom. People usually say it's easier to open a new account and reallocate the limit instead of asking a CLI because Chase is quite stingy with the CLI, but not the SL on approved cards. But people are usually opening up a freedom and then reallocating to their CSP. Haven't read many post about people opening up a Hyatt and then immediately reallocating 90% of the limit to a CSP and still getting the 2 free nights.

Re: help deciding chase card

They all fit hotels in the area so thats what makes it harder to decide. IHG gives me upgrades on my rooms but im still not sure if thats gonna be the best one.

The intercontinental in Austin would be a nice getaway. And a nice way to use that free night on a 49 dollar AF card Smiley Happy

Are you using Slate? When does the 0% APR period on it end? I would suggest closing Slate after the 0% APR ends and reallocating the limits to your "main" Chase card (probably CSP?).

As far as free hotel nights go...I also recommend the IHG Rewards Club card. The annual fee is low and even a free night at a Holiday Inn is going to save you $50 or so.
