how do i get them to increase JCPenney card limit

I have had my JCP card for the longest. I think at least 3 years and i am still at 200 dollars CL. I have high limits from many of my cards (5k-25k). On my macy's card, i have a CL of 3500. How do i get JCP to at least raise it to 1k. I use it maybe once every 5 months but it is hard to use it with only $200 limit. Any advice thanks

Maybe they have some awful notes in your account saying not to give you one for whatever reason. I would call and ask if there is some sort of problem why you can't get an increase. Especially this time of the year on a store card. I know GEMB is stingy, but usually after some use and payment history, they will give a small amount.  And I would also tell them you would use it more, but with such a small limit, you can't. Thanks stef, i did tell them i would use it more if they raised my limit. They said they understood however they put my name through a computer system and it comes back with a decision. She said maybe i need to use my card at least 5-6 months in a row. That seems like alot.

Re: how do I get them to increase JCPenney card limit

I had my jcpenney card for 4 mths. i applied for the card at the end of august. my credit limit was 600 dollars. I called for a credit increase on dec 20 and they increased me to 1800. What a shock! even the person i was talking to was happy for me. She says that she doesnt get many people that get credit increases. I PIF all three mths. So i guess that help me get a bigger increase.

it doesn't sound like you use it very much, which could be why they don't see the value in giving you a higher credit limit.  maybe if you were to use it several times throughout the month, & make PIF payments each time, they would see that you are using it more frequently, & would agree that you need a higher credit line.

i think the first month i spent 60 dollars and i PIF. Then the second month i spent about 120 dollars and PIF. Then the third month i spent about 150 dollars  and PIF. My equifax fico score is 690.

Re: how do I get them to increase JCPenney card limit

I think I would buy a pack of socks, tube of lipstick or something small and PIF each month like she suggested. I wouldn't spend that much if they aren't going to give me more to shop with.

I have to do the same with my Wal-mart card. I will spend less than 20 and PIF.  I do that for 4 months and push the button. I always get it, but they make it difficult to build that line up. I think I should close and start over, but at this rate, there's really no point. Much better cards, terms and rewards. I'm just stubborn, that's all. And I hate looking at that pitiful CL. It will take me years to get it to a decent level, but will let it age a bit more since it isn't costing an AF.
