When will a cc company close your account due to inactivity--- My boyfriend has 2 cards listed as still open from 2000 and 2002----On credit report--he dosent have the actually cards anymore----He states he didnt close them...Im wanting to possibly become joint/authorizer on them because of there lenght of history and good rating(no lates ever)...
Could we just call them up and they look up his account info with ssn---He dosent know account number and credit report just shows partial?
And should we bother to even check---I wouldnt want them to say it was closed, then they end up updating cra with close status....
Basically is there a time limit on how long u can go with account activity before they close it....
I have an old one like that too, from 2000. Its for citi, i dont ever remember opening it, anyway its showing no lates good history since 2000, i love it lol
I called citi to ask about it and they didnt know what i was talkin bout! lol
If he orders his CR directly from Transunion, it will list the entire account number. Don't use a third party puller as that won't work.
And once he does this, have him call for replacement cards as the ones he has are damaged. Hopefully they will keep the account open. They may do another hard pull since it's been awhile, but it would be worth it.

To answer that question: It depends.
Some CCC's will keep accounts open for years and years, others, like HSBC will close after 2 months of no use.
I had a GEMB LoC that was closed after 7 months of inactivity and my GEMB credit card was closed after 22 months of inactivity.
