Re: how stringent are Credit Unions

Strange about the taking your mother off of the account thing, but just recently my fiancee had come really close to overdrawing her account. I have taken over everything financial, and am slowly trying to give her back some responsibility. We each get a certain amount of "pocket money" (money to use for gas, lunch, etc, and when it is gone, it's gone until the next payday). Well it is her responsibility to take care of her account and her pocket money. One day she told me she thought she may OD her account and wanted to know what we could do. Luckily I have become really adept at having a large savings since I became financially **bleep** (hah) and transfered money out of there to cover it. The transfer happened at around 11:30 pm. Well lo and behold, that night everything hit,and caused 3 OD fees because (per SSFCU's terms) any transfer made after 10pm credits the NEXT day. DOH!! She called them up and I prepared her on what to say (we have another CU account, we have a lot of business, we have been there for a long time, etc, etc . . .). She called to inquire, they told her about the 10 pm rule, then promptly waived all 3 of the OD fees. We have had great service from them. I am sorry that you had a bad experience.

Re: how stringent are Credit Unions

I'll live haha, I'm a pretty big fan of BofA now, been with them since 05.  Their fees can be a bit painful, but since I took my ex off the account after our break up, I haven't had a single fee from them haha - in other words I've had no issue NOT overdrafting.

It's good that they were willing to work with you though Smiley Happy

If I wasn't currently as happy with BofA as I am, I'd probably look into another CU...  good luck on your hunt!
