Re: i want an amex

the most popular seems to be the delta skymiles. are you a student? you may want to call and ask about thier sudent card. your ex score is about the low end that most get in with, hoever if you have any baddies showing that may get you a decline.

Re: i want an amex

Shyboy,

The first thing you want to do is probably drop that utilization to somewere below 30%. That should give you a few points on your Score.

Second, make sure you don't have too many inquiries within the last 6 months. I spoke with a CSR at Amex who told me once that 6 or more can be considered too many.  If that is your case, I would wait a little.

Third, the card that will more linkely let you in is the Amex Delta card.

there are plenty of threads here talking about that, search for "Amex Delta" and read what others are saying.

Good Luck,

Re: i want an amex

i only know amex has a student card, but that's it. in your case i would say research the student card, then compare it to the delta and then app for the one that would appeal to you the most.

please wait for other veterans to chime in before pulling the trigger though.

Re: i want an amex

Good luck on your journey for the AMEX card. It took me quite sometime until I finally got approved for one today. Be patient and soon AMEX will come begging to you on their hands and knees. ha ha ha.

Re: i want an amex

Your EX and EQ are a little low- but if you wish to app. if I were you I would app. for Blue for Students. This way you can prove you are in school. Blue for Students (I am in college too but prob. much older than you) was my first CC w/ a decent CL.

Re: i want an amex

You will want to PIF though and ALWAYS pay more than minimum w/ Amex. It is generally agreed they don't like to see minimum payments for too long.

Re: i want an amex

can someone explain to me what's so great about american express cards? my mom told me that with amex you have to pay the balance in full every month, so i don't see the appeal of them =/
