i was trying to wait until i could app nfcu, but...

the contract company that is my in has been draging thier feet for so long on bringing me on and i need my id from them to join.

so i decided to try discover since ex is on ice (lucked out and got a tu pull). got a please call, or we can call you response. called was told 7-10 days, checked online after i hung up. declined at this time.

called and finally got an underwriter yesterday, was told i needed to get and fax a printout of my ss# info from social security (which i ironicaly had from last year) to verify id.

so i faxed it yesterday afternoon and asked the underwriter to call to confirm receipt. got the call this morning, approved for the motiva 5k.

not a super high starting limit, but from what i've seen decent for a satrting discover limit.

For Discover that IS a high starting CL. Congrats. That's awesome.

Big congrats. And when you finally get your NFCU eligibility, you'll probably get a nice big starting CL from them, too. Smiley Happy

Re: i was trying to wait until i could app nfcu, but...

thanks all!

the two job thing isn't in full force yet, still have some training elements to cover (total of 102 hours, before i ever even see a pay the first pay check!).

not sure how big the nfcu approval may be, just got rebucketed and it cost me 18 points. in all honesty i was surprised about the limit.

still not as large as fused's though Smiley Mad

Nice!! Congrats! Smiley Very Happy

And yeah... from all I know about Discover (which isn't much, granted), $5000 *is* a great limit! I'm very happy with the $4900 they gave me. And I just went on the site and ordered ANOTHER card design. Enough, now - don't want to annoy them! Smiley Tongue

Re: i was trying to wait until i could app nfcu, but...

I was issued my Discover Card in late July/early August - initial CL $8,100.00. My scores hover right at 700 and my credit is not quite perfect, but getting there. I was impressed with the CL. It was higher that I expected.

I am not quite sure why you chose Motiva. My impression from looking at the website is that the APR on the Motiva Card is higher than that of More or Open Road. I also surmise that Discover wants use, so... use it!
