i would like to get amex card but how long do i have towait to apply?

I was wondering if any of you know how many months do i need to wait to get amex card? I just got my first credit card with capital one (January 2008) so if you could please advise me how long do i need to wait. thank you

That really depends on what your EX score is - Amex nearly always pull EX

I was able to get a Delta Skymiles through Amex with a 562 EX, but I have heard of others getting it with a score in the 620 range. They pull EX and seem to hate recent baddies and high utilization.

thank u so much for the info. but i have no credit score as of today bcz i opened my first card january 2008 how long do i have to wait for my credit score to show up?

OK, now I get it.  If you use (and pay off) the card for 6 months I think you will get a score at that point

You're saying your Capital One card isn't reporting? They tend to report within a couple days of the statement cutting. Is it possible no statement has been cut? Have you been using the card?

Siaent- I am assuming you have not pulled you report bc you dont think you have a score yet, correct?

yes i been using the card and paying off the full balance and it also shows on my credit report but it say i have no credit score as of now> i also applied for bfa credit card but declined

Since you were approved in Jan for Cap 1, you will need to wait until June/July to have time for it to generate a score for you.

I would not apply for anymore cards in the meantime, so you do not rack up alot of  inquiry's. Too many inquiry's in short time period can cause a denial.

 Cap 1 is pretty good about giving increases, so, treat it well.

I agree with stef. Let the card age a little with positive history. Additional inq's at this point can hurt you.
