interest question and CSP question

So my gfhas a SW card from chase that we kind of had a big balance on. It was around 5k starting early January but we've it down and the last stament balance was 1900. Right now its at 1100. The due date is 4 /8. So if I pay the rest of that 1100 off I won't be charged interest right? Or would I? The way I understand it I wouldn't but I'm not sure if having carried a balance the last couple months would change that.

Now my other question is if CSP would be worth it for us. She just got it about 3 weeks ago and we've put like 2k through it so far. We travel somewhat frequently and eat out a little even though we try not too. We plan on putting all our bills on it except my car, and mortgage, and our electric since there's a fee for that. I know I could just run the numbers but I'm curious if anyone else is in our situation. Together we make 62k a year and that includes 10k from our rental. My income will be going up about 20k over the next 3years.

I guess I'm just curious if with our level of income for two people does it make sense to keep this card past the first year. We travel maybe 2 or 3 times a year. And usually fly SW

She does have freedom and we'll use that a little next quarter and the one after that.

Re: interest question and CSP question

If you don't eat out alot or travel alot the 2x rewards won't do alot for you IMO.. The signup bonus is obviously the great thing about this card along with no FTF fees...

It really comes down to what card suits your needs best, but I use the CSP as my eating out/bar card and get major UR rewards per month since I put about 1500$ a month on it in eating out/bars..  So worth it to me at least it appers.

There might be better options for you two such as the Citi Double Cash or the Fidelity Amex..  Which you get 2% regardless...

BTW if you didn't know don't use the Chase UR's for cash back as you get ALOT more back for partners such as United Airlines, Marriott, etc.

Re: interest question and CSP question

Thanks. I can see how the card works out great for you. I spend some at resturaunts and bars but I couldn't say how much. I've found that just paying for my gas and groceries in a year will have me break even with the AF.  So I'll see how this first years goes. If anything we'll try for BCP. That'd probably be a lot better card for us. We do like the CSP a lot though.

And yeah I'm going to try and book as much travel as I can through chase to use my points and to get the 3x the points when I pay. But like I said we normally fly SW but I guess we'll find whatever works best for us.
