I have to say, I wondered about that w/Cap 1 - I tried all weekend to make an extra payment and the site could NOT be found on any computer I tried - I was wondering what the heck was going on!

Also I always suggest that you use your bank's billpay system to send the payment to American Express.
Just my 2 cents, GL

Oh no I whole heartedly agree that AMEX is looking to make it hard on people to make payments.
I know it is fashionable around these parts to believe that AMEX, and other creditors, are out to 'get' the average cardholder, but to really think AMEX management is sitting around thinking of ways to prevent people from making payments on their debt is stretching credulity. Responsibility has to be taken by the cardholder to make payments on time, and this means not waiting until the last minute to make payments online. The vagaries of the internet are such that 'stuff' happens and systems can, and do, go offline. But I've never had the AMEX go down for more than an hour or so. It's not that big a deal. Just make plans to pay well before the due date, and if you are scared of doing it online than use a postage stamp and mail your check in the old fashioned way. Or pay it using your bank's bill payer system. There are lot's of options. But AMEX isn't thinking of ways to stop you from making payments on your debt. Believe it, they want your money!
