There is a 75K offer going around and it would make a more favorable case if you could pull it up. You can try spelling your name differently or incognito or VPN or all of them.
I was able to pull up the 75K on Amex prequal page using a variation spelling of my name. Though I won't app for it. (I am always unlucky with timing when it comes to Amex SUBs, only pulling up great ones at the wrong time ).
I don't think 60K is worth it.
@Anonymous wrote:For those doing little or no travel, and interested in dining and groceries, I feel the need to point out the gift cards that Amazon sells.
So for supermarkets, they offer
Albertsons, Safeway, WholeFoods, Giant, Shaws, Stop and Shop, Star (and probably others that I don't know).
They also offer lots of cards for chain restaurants, and also Grubhub.
So, for a little inconvenience, and if you have been sufficiently restrained to be under 5/24, with the Chase Amazon prime you can get uncapped 5% off all of these with no AF (apart from Amazon prime). I don't know if the Sync card has any restriction on these.
They also sell lots of other gift cards such as Lowes, but for purchases made at those kind of stores, you may prefer real credit card protection.
Similar for something like a Citi Costco card. 2% off their already discounted gift cards, for an effective 8-10% off? Sounds good to me.
Thanks for this thread, I have been contemplating the same thing.
This is actually a pretty interesting thread for me, while I am only being shown the 35K SUB right now, I have gotten mailer in the mail for more (maybe 50K, IIRC). I will fully admit that I have not maximized my spend for the best earnings on particular cards, and I have been looking to change that. While I am not planning to get any new cards until we close on a house (so still up to 6 months away, hopefully not much longer), I do appreciate the input from everyone here.
While I do travel, my travel for work has been greatly reduced both due to a new postion (project management instead of consulting) and COVID (who knows how long the restrictions will last, I would not expect things to return to normal in 2021). My personal travel for 2020 has been greatly shifted due to COVID and I don't see it even returning to normal in 2021. I think for now Gold is probably not for me.
Though if I get the 65K offer after we close on the house, well then maybe I will get sucked in (ha!)
200$ credit on the platinum Amex I understand it cannot be used for a ticket purchase so what are the way to take advantage of it?

Varies by airline. Separate threads for each airline.
During the time I had the card, I was constantly struggling to find ways to justify the $250 annual fee. I was getting a lunch from Shake Shack each month even though I normally try to avoid chain stores and to avoid stores that don't have healthy menu choices, just so I could pick up the $10 per month lunch bonus. (Grub Hub wasn't an option for me, after I learned that it was bilking the restaurants out of 25% of the bill). It's like I was working for the card, rather than having the card work for me.
Then, when a charge for a $3000 veterinarian's bill was declined just because I had not previously spent that much in a month, I closed the card and breathed a sigh of relief. I don't have to patronize Shake Shack any more.
If I can luck up on the 75K SUB, I am game.
I have the gold card and use it constantly. It fits very well with my spend patterns and I like to travel and use points to do so. Based on what you stated my answer would be no don't spend money getting the gold card. No real point. You aren't interested in travel and point earning. BCP seems like a much better fit for you.

Good to hear from the perspective of someone who tried to get value but recognized that it wasn't feasible...pretty much sums up my current thoughts as a non-fit for my spending and infrequent travel. I frequently eat out with my DW, but I think the BCP + Altitude Go combo would be a better fit in the future, or if Nusenda's UW would relax a bit I would have 3 quarters covered by rotators and fast food covered with USB Cash+.
