Wife already has CSR. With my refer-a-friend bonus link, she applied for CSP (and Chase Unlimited) at the same time to try to get 1 inquiry for 2 card. Unlimited was instantly approved but CSP went into 7-10 business day pending. In my experience, Chase is most likely going to call to ask some questions. Wife is at 1/24 (or 3/24 if store credit cards like Macy and Banana Republic is counted). Wife's FICO score is 800+. I removed her as authorized user from my cards last month but is still showing up on her reports on Credit Karma.
My question is: what are some good reasons my wife can give for applying for CSP given that she already has CSR (received 2 months ago)? She can say that she wants to add me as authorized user for free (but not sure if Chase can tell that I already have CSR, CSP, Freedom, and Unlimited). She can also say she wants to keep her spending separate but not sure what would considered reasonable. Maybe she can say that she wants to add her parents as authorized users and keep their spending separate from her CSR?
Anyone has any advice on what they would say to Chase as a legitimate reason to have CSP even though she has CSR. We will eventually downgrade her CSR and keep mine only.
Maybe say she'll use it to book some group travel with her friends, and that it's a good way to keep group expenses separate when they reimburse her?
Well, want to be able to add authorized users (no need to specify who) for free is one. But they will either let you or not, I don't think anything you say will be taken as the real reason, as compared to wanting bonuses!

+1
I think in cases like this, it's probably more important what you don't say... in other words, I wouldn't mention the bonus, and honestly wouldn't elaborate any more than absolutely necessary.
If they point blank ask for a reason, I would offer that "I have some specific purchases in mind" - there's no need to specify what purchases - and that's it. (And this isn't a lie - I'm sure your DW does have specific purchases in mind.) If it takes a few moments for the CSR to type some notes, it's OK for there to be silence on the line for a few moments. It's not likely the answer to this question would be a deal breaker/maker in any case (unless you mention you're only after the bonus, which of course would be bad).
Good luck to your wife!

Not really, only if you are really after the points.
