macys issue question/cld

Hi!

I have a question and wondered if any of you encountered this and if so what was the outcome. My pymt was due with macys on 11/02, due to circumstances beyond my control ( was in hospital having a baby) my pymt was not made until 11/03.

i called the auto system and discovered bc of 1 day pyg late they had dropped my credit line $600. keep in mind i've never been late, never over limit or close to limit and normally i pay balance off in full or a large portion if i have a balance. so i called spoke to a rep,who took off late pymt chrg. i asked could my credit line be restored at that time, he said i'd have to wait and call back in 4-6 months.

i even offered to send in hospital discharge papers, or whatever i needed to do. he would not restore my limit so essentialy my limit was cut in half. what can i do to get my limit put back? i dont want to wait 4-6 months, i can see if i was always late or late by a few days but it was 1 day! please help with some advice to get this situation rectified!

thanks so much!!

I don't know to be honest, but other than pride, does the decrease impact your overall utility much or your ability to buy what you want on their store card? If you have a large ticket item you can likely ask them to increase it and they will on the spot.

Re: macys issue question/cld

I would send a letter and include discharge papers...  explain about how you value your Macy's account and would NEVER have been late except for the unplanned and wonderful event you just went through...

Perhaps mention that you also plan to make Macy's (your favorite store) the plave you shop for that little future Macy's shopper you just brought into the world...

Re: macys issue question/cld

Call back and politely ask for it to be re-instated, pointing out that you paid it in full and it was a first time mistake.  Throw in the fact that it is holiday time and you would really like the limit restored so you can do some shopping.  Be persistant but polite and friendly and if they still say no, ask for the supervisor.  Sometimes, it just takes the right person on the phone or somebody in a really good mood and you'd be surprised what they'll do for you =)  I would just keep bringing up that you are a loyal customer, excellent payment history, and you want to do some shopping.  They can make exceptions even if they tell you it's the 3month thing, if you are persistant and you try a couple of times one of them will definitely do it for you.

Re: macys issue question/cld

Congrats on the new baby Bama!!

(So this is where you have been, eh?)

Macy's will probably put you on restriction, but keep after them to get ungrounded. I have read other's who have had sucess after enough pleading. You had a good reason, so don't give up!

Re: macys issue question/cld

Well that's a sucky thing to have happen when you're embarking upon your baby moon. I hope that Macy's will be understanding and fix this for you. Of course, if they persist with their resistance, keep calling them when your new bundle is in the throes of a new baby hissy fit. Calmly tell them that your little one has a healthy set of lungs, and you're not afraid to use them. Smiley Wink

Congrats on the new baby.

Re: macys issue question/cld

Just had this exact same thing happen.  They dropped my CL from 1200 down to 500.  I called them up and talked to a manger complaining.  She bumped it back up to 800.   But that's all she would do.  The one thing about Macy's is that they WILL increase it every 3 months.  Still sucks but at least they will increase every 3 months.
