Re: new card advice

I'll chime in...you have 1 card, a 500cl Capital One?  I personally  would apply for nothing until that one reaches 6 months.  One thing you really don't want to do is apply for a bunch of cards when you are first starting out.  But if you are set on another card, I would look into a local Credit Union.  They have a more personal touch and may work with you better than the big guys.

Re: new card advice

I agree with codimom. Your score will improve dramatically with a positive credit card tradeline reporting for 6 months. If you have to do anything try for a CU card, but if that is denied wait for the 6 month mark. It really works! After 6 months with my first Capital One card my score improved by nearly 50 points (although I didn't have any baddies, so YMMV).

Good luck!

In My Wallet: Amex BCP (12/12) $50,000, Chase Freedom (12/12) $16,500, Cap1 Quicksilver (6/12) $14,000, Barclaycard Rewards (5/13) $10,500, Citi Prestige (4/16) $30,000

When I first apped for the Walmart Card my scores were about the same as yours and I had essentially no revolving history and was denied. The reasons given were score too low and not enough revolving history. Others may of had better experiences in a similar situation as YMMV on such things.

But I feel the others are right. Let your Cap1 age for 6 months and then give it a go. Smiley Happy

Re: new card advice

I wouldn't do it yet.  the 6 month suggestion will show other lenders you can handle a card.
