Even with BCED same thing, just using gold to show what happens since I actually have a credit on the blue cash from some returns. But maybe AMEX just has some sort of internal thing where they let some people do it and not others or only allow it sometimes? Like if I were to call and make a 600$ overpayment right now, I can easily in the app pay an extra 3k with no questions asked. It's like they have to authorize the account to accept the over payment or something.
Well, the OP was talking about revolver so I went with revolver logic 🤷♀️

You know better than to try to correlate "AMEX math" and "revolver logic".
@Remedios You are the man of the hour! I had never made a payment through the web site before. Although the app won't let me overpay my balance (except by a little, sometimes), when I made a web payment equal to the balance + the pending, it went right through, and avail confirmed = to the CL. I'm going to wait until that digests, and then experiment with an even larger payment through the web. I therefore like the Amex web site a little better, but it still seems to only work in some ways. I ask it to check for prequalification and a CLI, but it seems to be unable to respond with a "Yes!" Some sort of technical problem I guess.......

I just tried doing the same, pending plus balance and it worked, I guess it won't let me go over that amount to cover any tips for example though. But please update if it will let you do any larger payments.
Sorry, but I have to....
Told you so!

Well deserved! To be fair I was trying something different than what you were initially talking about lol. But good to know I can at least cover my charges for now, let's see how Amex takes to doing it online from now on. I usually just call and annoy them because... well I can
