Not sure if this thread should be created in somewhere else..
I have a question regarding to my credit cards billing address. If I moved to a new place, obviously I should change it right away. And once I did, and I needed to purchase something online, what should i put as my billing address? old address or new address? Some website (Amazon kinda like that too) will check your billing address, and if they aren't match, they cancel your order, or in the amazon cases, I had experience of getting my account locked due to incorrect billing address used.
My concern is that if I purchased something online right after i changed my billing address, would i even be able to use my new billing address? I mean, how fast does the system update? and should I wait until the statement cut( so the new address reported) to use the new address as my billing address when i placed an order?
I was also wondering about this too, waiting for responces. Also, when does the zip code you use when you pump gas change? I changed my address on most my cards already, but I still have to use my old zip code when pumping gas. When does this change?

Billing address changes are nearly instant. When you change them online they will be active within minutes. When I changed mine and went to the gas pump 10 minutes later the zip code was already what I changed it to.
Also I'm not sure what their policy is regarding when to change it (I waited 8 months to change mine when I moved lol). Also I order online all the time and never ran into billing address issues before. Especially on Amazon where I have many saved addresses/billing addresses, credit cards, etc. I get them mixed up all the time. I've even accidentally left a family member's billing name and address on Amazon and charged my card and the order still went through. I've never heard of Amazon being picky about that stuff before so you must have just been unlucky.
If you just want to play it safe make sure that when you change your billing address on your card/cards that you change the billing address on whatever site you are ordering from, etc. The changes are nearly instant as I mentioned eariler.

It is supposed to be right away. You should call your bank to see what the hold-up is. When I changed my billing addresses for my Capital One, Citi, and BBVA cards they all changed right away. I went to the gas pump 10 minutes later and my Cap One zip code had already changed to the new one.
Glad someone made this topic! I, too, was curious about this as there is one site I order from that will ONLY ship to billing address. I'm glad it gets updated in the system right away.
Quicksilver $10,000 | Better Balance Rewards $2000 | Sallie Mae $3500 | Freedom $3500

I'm sure it depends on the bank. The only way to know for sure would be to call and ask. I've only done this with Cap One, Citi, and BBVA and all 3 updated immediately, but I would imagine some smaller banks or credit unions might not.

This was with the Sallie Mae. I'll try it again this weekend and see if it has updated...

am i the only one thinking this? Sometimes when gas pump asked you to put the zip code in but it doesnt matter what you put in? even if i put in a wrong one, i could still pump gas isnt it?

That is incorrect. Most, if not all, gas stations will require your correct zip code. If you input anything else it will reject the card and tell you to go inside to "see attendant".
