"Recent use of this account's existing credit line has been too low" Cap1

I have the non siggy QS visa. I got my first CLI 7 months ago through luv button. Went from $3-5k.
Since then ive been putting $300-500 a month on the card and PIF. Ive had the card for ever a year now. Im not sure what the deal is, i simply cannot get an increase for nothing. I have a document box full with

· Recent use of this account's existing credit line has been too low

denials

Ive been requesting a CLI every couple days for about 3 months. I got a big purchase coming up.

my scores are all above 750 FICO 8.

I charge everything on this card, and PIF why Cap1 dont like me?

Im close to giving up and just putting everything on my freedom which only has 1k. Will be better because i may get a CLI with them which i really badly need.

They are basically telling you that your not utilizing your cards limit enough. If your only putting 10% of the cards limit a month then your current limit is good enough in the Cap1 Computers eyes.

My Quicksilver CL was $5K and for the first four months I put $1200-$1700 on the card, PIF a couple of times but also leaving a balance a couple of times (0% APR promo).  After the fourth statement, I requested a CLI and they gave me an additional $2K, for a total line of $7K.

Your scores are better than mine, so it's likely their computer just wants to see more usage.

You simply aren't giving it enough usage. Look at it from their perspective. If you charge $500 a month on a $5k limit, why is there any need for them to give you a CLI?

Like others have already pointed out Capital One just simply wants you to run up some stronger numbers.

With some heavier useage they'll come through with what you're expecting but not very likely until after then.

Hope it helps Smiley Happy

I personally find using the card up to 80 percent utilization and paying a good amount back gets the cli's quicker
Why give you a cli if your not using anything close to the crefid limit you have ?

But that's my opinion only ... Also, in a six month period always pay your card balance, I'm betting they want to be assured you have the means to pay in full.

I don't know if usage is the whole story. Yeah technically you don't have a lot of usage, but I have gotten increases on my CapOne cards for a lot less usage than 10%. At this point Capital One just doesn't want to give you a CLI and they need to find a reason why.

yfan has a point... I got a $1K increase on my QS1 and I hadn't used it in months.  However, all we can do is offer suggestions based on what we've been told by the OP.  It's the old "garbage in, garbage out" problem.

Our suggestions are only as good as the information we've been provided, and based on the limited information we were given by the OP heavier usage is the 'best' suggestion we can make.
