First of all, i don't start this thread to initiate war here.. so.. some people, please be calm..
I did not play the rules and use discover card at the check out when i used the shopdiscover (now the discover deal).. they seemed to charged back a very huge amount of cash back from me recently from those.. i wouldn't be able to know which orders.. and i don't want to bother to look it up because i just have too many bestbuy orders..
not sure if anyone has that experience.. and feel the same that discover is finally taking back those cash back bonus..

Not instigating either, but I'd imagine it's unprofitable for them to honor these deals without using their card, and can imagine where upper management initiated a crackdown on this, as many posters here have pointed out how easy it would be for them to know.
Sorry OP, but I figure "workaround" is closed.
There's no war. As the terms state, you're supposed to use their card, as you seem to be aware. I'm not surprised they took back the cash back from you, and it's the risk you take when you do something that is against what they explicitly state on the Discover Deals page.
Sue them? It's posted right on the front page of the Deals site. It's within Discover's right to dictate that you use their card to get their deals on THEIR portal!
It wasn't "clawed back". It was something you never should have been credited to begin with as it goes against the terms of using their portal. Alas, I'm not getting into this debate again because we did it before and it was ugly. The bottom line is you can't expect to recieve (and keep) erroneous cash back from using a different card on a portal designed by Discover where you have to use THEIR card. And that's all I will say.

What sort of volume? We've heard that they have gone after heavy hitters

You should have used the CB before it got clawed back.
How could you win this case? The discover deals T&C state you must use Discover. This is not an apples to apples comparison of AMEX and them trying to claw back MS dollars.

Yeah but then you can't double dip and what is the fun in that. Always redeem your rewards, people.
