I have always done this on my online account.
When you opt out, you can also go in and set your alert preferences for what kind of e-mails you want:
due in 5 days, past due, close to limit, etc. type e-mails
I got offers for BT online when I was getting paperless statements
to opt back in just go back online and change your preference to paper statements again

Hi,
I temporarily .. for maybe a year or so .. would probably be better off opting out of paper statements with Citibank for reasons that I don't want to go into.
Not having ever opted out of paper statements with anyone, I have several quick questions.
1) What's the best way to do this? by phone ? online ? does the phone automated system have an option to opt out of paper statements ? You might as well start doing everything on the computer now since you are opting out, so do it online, start getting used to doing everything by computer
2) Once you've opted out of paper statements, how does Citi notify you in the future of special balance transfer offers ? They will send it to you online
Will these notifications now just be online only ?Yes
Does Citi do like what USAA does where you get an email notice of a BT offer ? Yes
Will the online pdf version of my paper statement have a message informing me of any special BT offers ?I think i remember seing it, but not to sure. You can call and ask the CSR
3) Later on, can you opt back in to resume getting paper statements ? I would assume you can but why would you if you are doing everything online now. If you need a copy of a statement, you can always request one.
Thank you!
Hope this helps

Thank you both very much for your help and advice
Quick follow-up question. Because I've use my creditors' websites only once every one or two months, I didn't keep track as well as I should have of the answers that I made up for the security questions. The last time that I was poking around in the security email alerts section for Citibank, it wanted me to answer two security questions. I could only remember the answer to one of the two questions. How do I reset the questions and corresponding answers ?Message Edited by MojaveMoon on 01-15-2009 09:27 PM
That is a very good question, i have never had that problem so i can not answer that, however i can only advice you to now call customer service and see if they can help you get the answers through using other methods of getting access to your account online. I know citi has a department dedicated only to online accounts so i am sure they will help you. As a matter of fact, go into contact us and look for the the number for technical service maybe.
Hope this helps
