Let me put it this way.. If the bible belt formed a bank it would be called PenFed. Check my wallet in my sig below.. notice how there's a plethora of high limit prime cards? Notice how there is no PenFed? I even donated that $20 to join.. wasted. Unless you're a member of the military or have a FICO over 9000 dont bother.
DCU is solid.
+1000
Alliant Credit Union is good. If they are going to decline your application they will contact you and try to find a way to approve. Pen Fed will find a way to decline.
I have heard that DCU will give out healthy credit lines if you have 3yrs aaoa. I have heard from someone a while back that if you create a savings account through certain credit unions they will do a SP and then you can apply for a credit card with only 1 HP. I am not sure what credit union he used. Has anyone heard of this?
Also, Where can I find a list of bank that issue cards that are the non traditional banks? No chase, boa, amex etc..
DCU does give out nice CL's starting out
I managed to get a penfed card with about a 740 score. However I was declined 6 months prior with a slightly lesser score for pyramiding. I think they felt bad that i reapplied 6 months later on the dot.

+1 No membership required to APPLY for DCU credit cards, but they will make approval contingent upon becoming a member.
Guess my arrival has been delayed

For Alliant CU make one time donation of $10 or more to Foster Care of Success.
For Penfed if you are not affiliated to military make one time donation of $15 or more to National Military Family Association or Voices for America's Troops.
