Whoa.. what now? I'm not getting how the guy on the phone was involved with this, nor how you knew that. Are you saying he was pretending to talk on the phone just as a distraction and had some super-duper scanner which grabbed your magstripe information from a few feet away?? Not possible. Not from the magnetic stripe anyway. Now I can see someone using a distraction, picking your pocket, having an accomplice scan the info and then return your wallet to your pocket without you noticing but even that's far-fetched. Whatever went on that day I'm sure it's an interesting story.

People actually have credit card scanners. If you've ever been on a train in NYC (or probably anywhere), you'd know that its crammed with people. Sometimes, there isn't even enough space or move your face while you enough your -100% personal space. Combine that together with a guy pretending to be talking on the phone, the fact that i had on sweats with zippers on it too and you'll probably arrive at your answer. I'm 100% sure no one took it out of my pocket lol. If someone had taken it out, they wouldn't be able to out it back in there undetected.
Crazy stuff you need an "Aluma Wallet"

Actually your wrong it is possible.
Radio Frequency Identification Chips are now being used in all new U.S. Passports including the wallet cards, many credit cards and even some state driver’s licenses. A hacker using a directional antenna concealed in a briefcase, etc, can capture all of your credit card’s information from as far away as 20 feet. The information that they can hack includes the credit card number and expiration date along with your name. They can then take this information and use blank plastic credit card stock and a magnetic stripe writing device to create a new credit card in a matter of minutes.
You can nw buy RIFD blocking wallets.
The person who originally brought this up said MAGNETIC stripe. I also explicitly said "not from the magnetic stripe, anyway" in my response.
You are talking about RFID which is a whole different issue. How many of your cards contain RFID tags?
I had a similar thing happen to me. We went out of town to LA for a concert, on the way to the venue I stopped at an ATM to get some cash in case I wanted to buy anything that night. Fast forward to the next day, we're back home and I login to my bank as always and I notice there is a $300 withdrawal I didn't make so I called the bank. As I was on the phone with the bank and telling them I was not in LA anymore and was 800 miles away and could prove it, the CSR informed me that as we were talking they took out another $300. She closed that card, the bank put the money back in my account and 2 days later all was okay again.
Inn my case it was an ATM skimming device that was undetectable. I keep meaning to get one of those new blocking wallets...

I only have one card with an RFID chip embedded, a Chase card. You can buy for a few cents each, little credit card sleves that protect your RFID chip information from being stolen which is easy. Look on ebay. They are made of thin foil. No need to buy a separate wallet to carry your cards in.

Didn't Member bring it up about being on a train. He didn't say what card he was using except the CCC was chase. I don't know how many cards contain RIFD but I do know at least one in my wallet does and that is my CIti WEMC. Any card that someone has that says paypass contains a RFID chip. I would assume that a company as big as CIti has it there are probably more that we are unaware of.
Your right you did say mag stripe and he did also but he just had the wrong info he said that they scanned it from a magstripe which is wrong but they still can scan it maybe he doesn't realize his card has a RFID chip.
@ezdoesit wrote:Your right you did say mag stripe but he did not. Yet you said it wasn't possible based on your own scenario not his.
Actually, he did:
The mag stripe of every CC and DB has your information stored in. So they scan your card every while its in your wallet
He mentioned mag stripe, began the next sentence with the word "so", and I don't see any other way you can read that. OK I suppose you could say the tidbit about the mag stripe was just thrown in as an FYI there. Maybe.
