Okay first I get a letter saying I'm not in their area & then yesterday I get a flat out denial based on my credit report citing past delinquencies etc
Okay but here is the strange part it says the decision is based on my report with CSC Credit. I've never heard of them. Are they a 4th credit bureau or affiliated with one of the other ones??
This was for a co-branded US bank CC which I had read on here that people were able to get even if out of the area of US bank.
They are affiliated with Equifax.
CSC is one of the "left overs" from the days when we had "local" credit bureaus. CSC operates in at least 11 states.
This also means you must file any EQ CR dispute with CSC (www.csccredit.com) and not with EQ. Your EQ CR is providing info which is collected, maintained and coming from CSC, if you are in a CSC area.
Possibly.
Have you ever filed a dispute with EQ? I ask, because if you are in a CSC state, EQ will direct you to CSC to make your dispute. If you are not, then EQ will handle your dispute directly.
You can check by going to: http://www.csccredit.com then click on DISPUTE CREDIT REPORT.
It will then ask for your ZIP CODE. Put your zip code in and it will then tell you if you are serviced by CSC. If not, it will tell you that.
Yes I've filed many disputes with EQ & they have been good to me which is why it is my better CR. I went to the website as suggested & when I enter my zip code it says I have to contact EQ directly for a dispute.
Then your original theory must be the case, that the CCC uses CSC Credit to obtain your report. CSC has "reciprocal" services with EQ, meaning they push and pull data.
You will be able to use your denial for a free EQ report.
