targeted offer: USB Cash+ to USB Go "Upgrade"

"Congratulations, ColdFusion, you've earned an upgrade"

I don't see this as an upgrade partly because I leverage the 5% CB feature pretty heavily, but more to the point it looks like Socks Bank is sending out targeted PC offers today.

But they expressed complete lack of interest in the offer and don't consider it an upgrade by any means.

Maybe they will get rid of Cash+ in the future and stick with Altitude line only.

That would make me sad as the Cash+ fills a niche for me every month that the Altitude cards really can't and I find the thought of getting a Go about as exciting as you did  😐

Yes, I think the nice thing about Cash + is its niche spend categories!  We see complaints that the categories aren't useful, but if they are (to you) they are!  If the categories included at 5% say groceries and gas, more people would be interested but there are already some cards that cover that space.

Right, but the response isn't a whole lot less meaningful than the many congrats in approvals (which I could rudely categorize as "Someone I don't really know at all has got a card which might or might not be useful to them, even if they wanted it")

If someone decided to make an approval thread because they are sharing DPs, they are bragging, or simply excited about new credit because they  aren't (this) jaded yet, congrats are appropriate response and voluntary one at that, no one is making anyone go there and say it.

However, if I start a thread in auto loans because I need a new car, I don't expect to see "congrats on your engine catching fire"

Besides, "meaningful" is completely arbitrary state, and I don't think we have arbiter elegantiarum role assigned.

Re: targeted offer: USB Cash+ to USB Go "Upgrade"

To be honest, I am not sure what OP is asking us. I have both Cash+ and Altitude Go cards. I am not sure going from Cash+ to Alt Go is an upgrade. They are both are in similar class. I like the 5% cash back on Cash+  I use that card to pay my utilities and fast food like Burger King, McDonalds and several other places. Alt Go gives better rewards when we use it for formal dining like Buffalo Wild Wings and other formal dining places. I carry both Cards in my wallet where ever I go and use appropriately to maximize the rewards. I am not sure if one card can replace other card as the benefits are offered by each card are tailored for a particular purpose. I personally would not trade my Cash+ card and Alt Go card for each other or for some other card. At least that is my two cents on these two cards. Everyone is different and looks at different things.

Re: targeted offer: USB Cash+ to USB Go "Upgrade"

I have to agree that calling it an upgrade it a bit of a stretch.  I suppose it really would matter how one's spend is broken out into the various 4x/2x categories on Go and the 5%/2% categories on Cash+, as there are some possible combinations where Go may be better, particularly for those who have significant non-fast food restaurant and/or significant spending in other categories that would be capped on Cash+.  I'm definitely in the niche use case for my Cash+, as it fills my utilities and streaming spend nicely with its 5%, and I just pick a 2% category at random.  For me, Amex Gold completely eclipses every earning possibility on Go, but it's still certainly a great food card for most people.
