I have not personally churn this card but there is a 240+ page thread running at Flyertalk on this and no issues with getting the bonus multiple times. Most people are hung up on the AF and how to avoid paying it.

meet the minimum spend within 30 days, get the bonus, then cancel the card within 30 days.

I don't really recommend this though unless you don't mind burning down bridges with Citi.

Oh I know.  Just seems the bulk of those 240 pages is littered with folks asking the same (how to avoid paying AF) question.  But to answer the earlier question on getting the bonus multiple times, yes, there are quite a few data points indicating you do.

Yea I noticed the same about that FT thread, and a lot of other FT threads. There are a number of people who are just outright stingy. They're not looking for just a deal. They basically want free points / miles.

as tempting as this offer is, I shouldn't be applying for it now!

Well, if this offer is still around after April, then I'll consider applying for it again then.... Smiley Tongue

Thanks for the info!

Yeah those folks are playing with fire, I wouldn't risk it myself either.  I was thinking about applying for card #2 next week before the 3/31/14 expiration but I decided to wait until June 2014 for any new apps.  I hope it is still around then too.

Re: tempted to apply for a 2nd citi exec

im still wondering what I should do .. I might end up applying before the 31st

I am not looking for free points. I mean the annual fee goes down to 250 after the 200 credit. The guys on FT are crazy .. buying 10k worth of VRs then cancelling lol.

For some people with a really solid and thick credit history, or just a really high internal score with Citi, they probably have more leverage. But honestly speaking a lot of the people on FT do not fall under that category, and they are just straight up misers. If they don't care about losing their Citi cards or getting blacklisted, then I guess it's perfectly reasonable to abuse as much as possible to milk it out for what it's worth.

Even if this AA offer isn't around by then, I am guessing Barclays will ramp up their US Airways promotion sometime towards the end of this year too. They have a lot of miles on hand that they need to get rid off before the deadline for them to stop issuing US Airway cards.

i was reading some of the message thread and it is amazing how people just opening and closing their AA cards like if they were doors...lol. I would be so scared to fall into that kind of behavior. Here i am afraid of the consequences that can happend if i apply for a second executive card

i agree frosty...but you are in better shape than i am. I have opened all of my chase cards (5) under a year from May 2013-Jan 2014. . I have opened all of my Citi cards (4) between March 2013-Jan 2014. So i know i would be at high risk for any type of adverse action from either one. Its just the offer is so tempting...LOL. I believe you will be ok in applying for a second executive card.

I think you should apply.

I have three Chase cards which I got in the past year. I first had United Mileage Plus which was approved last January. Then I applied for Chase Sapphire in December. In February, I closed my Mileage Plus card and combined it with my Sapphire so now it's at a $54K credit limit (crazy!).

Last week, I applied for Chase Ink for my biz. Got 7-10 day message online and called them up, asked to send proof of business utility bill and when they got it, they asked me what I want as a credit limit so I said about $20-$25K. They approved me for $25K on the spot.

In between Chase cards, I obviously have applied for different cards (BofA, Citi Exec AA with the 100K miles, Citi AA with 40K offer, Lufthansa Barclays, so on and so forth)...

and Chase didn't close any of my accounts.

I obviously run a lot of charges and PIF.... hope that helps.

I'm tempted to apply for a 2nd Citi card but I've gotten 2 Citi cards in the past 4 months....  if I were on your shoes, I'd apply for another 100k miles!!

+1. This is why I can't stand FT.

The majority of the people there are so cheap/stingy it's unbelievable, yet they're so self-entitled at the same time. I wonder how many have pulled DYKWIAs but won't admit it, and the sad truth is the hotel/airline employees don't really care.
