Take it from me you will get declined for Citi. It will be a day filled with sadness and guilt for having pulled the trigger knowing full well Citi is SO SENSITIVE about INQs Be careful with them. Also a recon includes you sending out via fax or mail copies of your credit report with the reason for the recon. How will you explain all the inquiries. I'm addicted to applying for credit? Automatic RECON FAILURE!

yea that sounds like not addcited to credit as much as the type of cards and what they offer. i just want to get rid of some store cards and cap1s. but they are MUCH
better then FP and BBRZMC
What you should be trying to do, in my opinion, is make Chase and AMEX think you're a good customer, since they offer the high-end cards you want. They barely approved you on the Slate (I doubt they offer a limit much lower than $500 on that, so I'd have to say you squeaked by). What does it say to them if they approve you for their card and then soon afterwards you decide they aren't good enough and need to apply for more cards? If you don't like the Cap1s, close them, fine, but there's no reason to apply for cards that are worse than your best cards.
I understand what you mean but let me just be clear Citi does not care that you don't like the types of cards you have. There is never a good reason to explain for all the INQs on one's CR. Banks view excessive applying for credit as desperate and a very HIGH risk. They don't care that the reason you are applying is to get better products. In their opinion if you were able to get better products it would only take one inquiry and approval not multiple inquiries. If you have that on your CR they think why would I open a prime product when no one else will. I'm only trying to help you. I've been where you are at now. I do have one request. Sit back and look at where you are. You have AMEX Zync. What's better than a NPSL with tons of potential purchasing power? You are doing well. Give it some time and fall in love with the cards you have. Zync is prime product and IMO better than a Citi student card!
i see what your all saying now maybe ill just use slate and zync for now and just PIF all the time slate is 0% for 15 months. and just use CAP1s once in a while. im also trying to get rid of 1 or 2 store cards
I would pay everything with my Zync. Everyday purchases, monthly bills, online shopping, etc. I would setup auto pay for Chase Slate and let one bill you owe get paid with that account each month and PIF right away. I would use Cap 1 last (since the potential for CL is low) each quarter. Make a small purchase like soda at the gas station and PIF right away.
Build positive history with AMEX on the Zync in 6 months they won't care as much about your score if you are an awesome Zync customer! In the meantime have fun with your Zync it's loaded with features. Rack up some points. Get some gift cards. Have fun!
Don't close your store cards. Let them build your AAOA and garden them for CLIs (the ones that are SP only like GE)
Do this and in 6 short months I think you'd be good to go!

This is exactly what I've been telling myself regarding my Amex Green, and it's been helping to quell app itch for me. Yes, there are cards that I want. Yes, it feels good to get decent cards after having FP and Orchard. Yes, yes, yes. BUT... I realize that I WON'T get what I ultimately want if I app prematurely, or even worse, for cards that I don't really need. The same applies to you. You'll only be adding inqs and, if approved for less desired cards, hacking away at your AAoA for no good reason. The very best way to get the cards that you really, really want is to stay in the garden until the time is right, until you can be reasonably confident that you stand a good chance for approval. Until then, grab a refreshment in the Garden Club, apply some anti-itch medication, and then sit back and relax. Trust me, right now time is your best friend.
