Not necessarily. They dont seem to have residency restrictions, but I didnt get into all those details with their analyst. Its another potential financial option opened in the future.

I did mostly to expand my financial relationships. They may offer more competitive financing (car, house) down the road as well.

Also, if one bank shuts down my credit for whatever reason I feel others will most likely follow, but CU not necessarily

ok, another question, I live in FL, you mention car, house ect. obviously I would not be a member of OCCU since they are in oregon, wouldnt that pose a problem?

You would need to contact them to determine what products would be offered outside of their general footprint area.  Not all CUs have the ability to underwrite specific products beyond membership or their specific charters.

@Jbb2788: I felt the same way you do when I got the $1500 CL. But in all fairness at the time I app'ed my 2nd highest CL reporting was Discover IT-$1400 so they probably were "matching" that limit b/c my credit is not stellar. But at least it is 0% APR for 12 months. I'll see what the first CLI looks like before I send the card packing after the 12 mos. is over.
