understanding Cap One dynamics

In early January of this year (after a 4 card spree in December), I applied for a Cap One QS and was (quite understandably) rejected based having on too many recent inquiries.  Since that time, I've tested the waters on CO's prequal site, with no offers displayed.

Yesterday, offers for a a QS1 and a Platinum appeared; I've no plans to apply for either.

Anyone have any insight as to whether offers for better cards (specifically, the QS and the Savor) might appear with the passage of time?

Relevant stats: FICO 8 scores of 736 (EX), 758 (EQ) and 810 (TU), with clean reports but for a 6-year-old 30-day late on EX and EQ.

2025 Goal: save 3 months' net income

Starting FICO8: 666 (give or take a FICO)
[ Last INQ 14-Sep-2025 ]
EQ8??0 INQ7y4m
EX8404 INQ (2 CC, 2 auto)7y
TU8??1 INQ (CC)6y8m
3/241/12AoYA 10m | AoOA 24y2m~1%

FICO 9 is 837.

If all accounts are the same with the only diff that 6 yr 30 day late it puts away the usual thing that is said in RYC that it only affects for 2 yrs post the late.

Re: understanding Cap One dynamics

Yeah, I've read that.  Not the case in my experience.

The simulator has my EX & EQ scores each up by 45-50 points once that friendly late drops (to 837 & 848, respectively -- the month before the drop, they're at 787 / 803).

In any event, I'd assume it's the recent apps and not my scores that are holding me back.  Guess I'll check back in the summer.
