Re: what limit is considered nice for amex as a starter?

Depends on the person when you consider a nice starting limit. I was happy to be approved for any Amex when I was rebuilding, I didn't care what limit they gave me as long I got my foot in there.

Starting limits are much more arbitrary than people think. Lots of different people making decisions based on just your income and credit report.

I tend to take amex initial clis on credit cards with a grain of salt. Unless its a 500 cl on a Optima or Zync, I consider the 61 day CLI as the real indicator of what amex thinks of you

Case in point. amex approved thin file with 5+ years of AAoA for 3k starter.. 61 day CLI brought it to a nice 9k

Maybe you folks can share some opinions?

Unless the block photos in your sig provide the details (I'm guessing they're just card photos) it would help to know what your profile is like.  That said, even without that info I wouldn't be of much help.  I can only provide my experience.

Re: what limit is considered nice for amex as a starter?

I JUST got my foot in the door with Amex and was stoked. Got the BCE w/ $1000 starting limit, which is low, but I could care less. At least I have the card. New ot this whole credit thing too. Should be 3k in 61 days, and I still plan on blowing thorugh 1k on it for the bonus.

Re: what limit is considered nice for amex as a starter?

I'd say anything above 3K is great from AMEX, because in 61 days it becomes 9K+ and that's a great limit to have on a still new card.
